ALLEGHENY County Council to hold a Public Hearing pursuant to bill no. 7962-14 regarding the adoption of the Transportation Element of Allegheny Places, Allegheny County's Comprehensive Plan, to afford interested parties an opportunity to express their views on the proposed adoption of the updated transportation element. The hearing will allow opportunity for comments by the general public to express their views on the amendment to the Comprehensive Plan, originally adopted in 2008, which reflects the most up-to-date information and data on local transportation and development plans including information on the North Shore Connector; recent transit ridership trends; early planning activities for a bus rapid transit service between downtown Pittsburgh and Oakland; and documentation of other overall transportation statistics, program adjustments, analysis, and recommended implementation actions. Individuals wishing to speak must register in advance at least 24 hours before the scheduled beginning of the hearing, and in accordance with all applicable rules governing public comment at Council meetings. The proposed resolution will be available to be reviewed in full by members of the public at the Allegheny County Courthouse, Room 119, 436 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 15219. County Council hereby advertises its intention to hold a public hearing to inform and to obtain public comment on the proposed adoption of the updated transportation element by publication of notice once a week for two consecutive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation. And that the publication is intended to provide notification of a proposed resolution and that any person claiming a right to challenge the validity of the ordinance or decision must bring a legal action within 30 days of the publication of the second notice. The hearing will be held on April 8, 2014, beginning at 4:00 p.m. in The Gold Room, fourth floor of the Allegheny County Courthouse. Council Member Amanda Green Hawkins, Chair of the Economic Development and Housing Committee, shall be the presiding officer for such public hearing.
